CHIILDREN - "Apocalypse Prologue"

I am one half of a music project called Chiildren. We are releasing an extended version of our EP on November 12th. You can pre-order it HERE

In conjunction with this release, we produced an independent short film called "Apocalypse Prologue." It is a transitional piece. Hopefully a prequel for a larger story to come with our yet-to-be-released music.

You can watch the video and read my statement on Bloody Disgusting

Trve West Coast Fiction Shirts

This is my first collaboration with friend and artist, Luka Fisher. He's designed this shirt based on my mouth and words. If you'd like one, please sign up to Dwolla.com. It's very similar to PayPal, and only takes about 3 minutes to set up an account.

To those wondering why I don't use a PayPal-based merchant account: they banned me forever because I sold porn.

If you would like a shirt...

Sign up to Dwolla and send $18 ($15 for the shirt, plus $3 shipping and handling) to DANIEL.UNK@GMAIL.COM. Include your shipping address in the order. If you live outside the continental United States, please contact me at dannywyldexxx@gmail.com prior to placing an order.

Sizes are available in Men's S, M, L, and XL. Women's S, M, L.

"Come To My Brother" - Teaser

If you have followed my blog for any amount of time, I want to say, "Thank you." Because you have a lot to do with the fact that this is happening now.

Come To My Brother is not an evolution of my work here, but a prequel. I wrote the first draft while still in college.

Like most young work, it has its flaws. My hope is that it contains something else too. Perhaps the stuff that's difficult to capture later in life.

Johnny Murdoc - my new friend and publisher from Queer Young Cowboys - has done a tremendous job at bringing my twenty-year-old voice to (some) maturity. Often by hacking it down to size. He's also designed a beautiful artifact.

The cover photos require more thanks and collaboration. Kimberly Kane (photographer) and Wolf Hudson (model) came together - years back - to help me shoot some promo material for this project. I think it was one of the first times I met Hudson. As you'll soon find out - if you flip a copy over - he had no issue with making a mess of me.

I hope you'll join me on September 10th in celebration of Come To My Brother's release. If you happen to live in Southern California, it would be a pleasure to meet you at The West Hollywood Book Fair - September 29th.

Please stop by again. I'll be releasing more info soon!

In The Dust Of This Planet - On Black Metal

From In The Dust Of This Planet:

"So far, we have two possible meanings that the word 'black' can have in black metal culture. These are black = Satanism and black = paganism. One has the structure of opposition and inversion, and other the structure of exclusion and alterity. Both are united, however, in what amounts to a human-oriented relation to nature and natural forces - with Satanism we see a dark technics of dark vs. light forces, and with paganism we see a dark magic of being-on-the-side of nature itself. Despite their differences, both meanings of the term 'black' point to one thing they have in common, and that is an anthropocentric view towards the world. The world is either there for us to use as a tool, or it is there inside us as a force for our benefit. Even as the various forms of paganism adopt an animistic or pantheistic view of the world, they also assert a means of knowing and utilizing the forces of that world; the self is at once united with the world and yet split from it. The human point of view seems to be a limit for thought in both of these meanings of 'black' (Satanism and paganism).

Is there yet another meaning of 'black' beyond this? There is, but it is a difficult thought to think, and nearly impossible to know, though it does exist (actually it doesn't exist, though the thoughts of its not-existing does). As we noted, both the Satanic and pagan variants of the word 'black' remain minimally committed to the perspective of the human, even as they posit forces in the world beyond all comprehension. The result is that these dark forces are in some way always 'for us' as human beings (either as wielding darkness or 'being on the side of' darkness'). Whereas both the Satanic and pagan variants retain an anthropocentric thread, a third position, which we can call 'cosmic,' attempts to relinquish even this. There is only the anonymous, impersonal 'in itself' of the world, indifferent to us as human beings, despite all we do to change, shape, to improve and even to save the world. We could be even more specific and refer to this perspective not just as cosmic, but as a form of 'Cosmic Pessimism.' The view of Cosmic Pessimism is a strange mysticism of the world-without-us, a hermeticism of the abyss, a noumenal occultism. It is the difficult thought of the world as absolutely unhuman, and indifferent to the hopes, desires, and struggles of human individuals and groups. It's limit-thought is the idea of absolute nothingness, unconsciously represented in the many popular media images of nuclear war, natural disasters, global pandemics, and the cataclysmic effects of climate change. Certainly these are the images, or the specters, of Cosmic Pessimism, and different from the scientific, economic, and political realities that underlie them; but they are images deeply embedded in our psyche nontheless. Beyond these specters there is the impossible thought of extinction, with not even a single human being to think the absence of all human beings, with no thought to think the negation of all thought. Hence another possible meaning of the term 'black': Black = Cosmic. Or better, Black = Cosmic Pessimism."

Manhunt Ibiza/Novel(s)

Do you remember this? A while back, Lily LaBeau was supposed to launch HotelLaBeau.com. Obviously, it didn't happen. You can ask her for the details. They're not mine to share.

But Manhunt Ibiza was supposed to be our first feature film together. Lily directed it with our good friend, Lou Charmelle. I shot (mostly), cut, and scored the thing (along with performed in it). We even ran a trailer on Fleshbot.

WATCH TRAILER HERE

Now it's finally available for pre-order on TLARaw (dot) com. Sorry I can't link it. I'm afraid of getting shut down by Blogger's new non-monetization rules for adult blogs. But Manhunt Ibiza is really easy to find on the search function at TLARaw (dot) com.

I'm in the process of getting the other content we were supposed to launch with Hotel LaBeau ready for your viewing pleasure. So please follow me on Twitter and Instagram to keep up to date.

On to other news...

You may have noticed a lack of recent updates. This has a little bit to do with the fact that my first novel, Come to My Brother, is due out through Queer Young Cowboys on September 10th, 2013. We're very busy prepping for it.

I'm also trying to finish a draft of a second book. It's kind of a horror story about the porn industry. Even though it may not be released for another year or two, I'm going to share an excerpt right now. The chapter can stand alone, although there is some reference to a minor plot point.

But who cares, right? By the time the book is out, you'll have forgotten about this. It could even be edited out.

(Unlike most of the entries on this blog, the following story actually is fiction. However, I'm still the main character...)

Enjoy!

XOXO

Coming Out (to my parents) About Sex Work

I just want to say that this essay is inspired by Jiz Lee and their upcoming project to detail similar experiences from other sex workers. A version of this may end up being a part of that project.

Instagram Photo Dump June 11th

We (Chiildren) are putting out a physical deluxe album eventually. I don't know when but I always want to say soon - even though it's kind of out of my hands at this point. The album art was not out of my hands. Here's a BTS pic from the shoot.

xTHE CAUSEx

This girl who works for, or is part of, an upcoming publication wrote me to ask if I'd submit to said publication. The thing was they only publish fiction. Despite the title of my blog, I mostly write (sort of) true/trve stories.

There was a deadline and I spent a lot of this past week trying to meet it. Because I'm slower at writing than people might think. But I remembered the girl telling me they would publish stuff that already existed on the Internet. Although I could give them temporary exclusivity for more money.

Anyway, I submitted and thought about the money. Then I thought about my piece. It might not make it in at all. I'm also really impatient when it comes to this shit. And my story is both anti-capitalist and anti-"anti-capitalist." The money shouldn't matter.

Especially because this is the most inauthentic story I've written in a while due to the fact that it's narrated by a lesbian high school student and I have no idea what it feels like to be that person. However, everything that takes place in this story is basically something I'd want to see in a porno. I don't know that it's possible to direct a porno like this unless I did it through Offbeatr or something. If you'd contribute to a crowd-funded XXX version of this, maybe you should say so in the comments section. Because that will make me more likely to do it.

In the meantime, read the fucking thing.

Watching Porn

No one is terrified in this post. The above just seems like an image someone comes up with when thinking about couples watching porn. It's also what Google comes up with. If the Internet is people, it's at least somewhat true.

I've been slacking on the writing and updates. Because I've been focusing on a new CHIILDREN music video. We wrapped production yesterday. So I'm hoping to have it out before the end of April.

The Warmup Guy

A few years back, when I was either finishing up film school or recently graduated (can't quite remember), a friend of mine hit me up to help out with a short film. It involved shooting a fake porno.

I gathered up some of my XXX friends (Chad Alva, Andy San Dimas, Sparky Sinclaire, etc...) and we spent a day making this VHS classic - "Cum to the Rescue." I finally got to see it today, so I'm sharing it with you. The Vimeo page is password protected due to its content (NSFW). Use the password: cum.

However, "Cum to the Rescue" is just a small part of a bigger picture. Watch the short film, "The Warm-Up Guy."

O.W.H.H.R.M.

I'm not sure how I stumbled across this clothing company in the first place. But I did. Sent an email to see if they shipped to the US (because they're based in Greece).

Within the response, I got this:

"PS: If you are indeed the Danny Wylde I understand you must be, and in case you are interested, it would be a pleasure to send you a couple of t-shirts as a token of appreciation and respect towards your on screen performances, straight up. The O.W.H.H.R.M. supports ambassadors of Lust & Passion! :)"

Giving the support back because OWHHRM is fucking awesome. And yes, they ship to the US.

The Case for Consent

Two years ago, I wrote a piece on this blog called, "Ethics Part I." Shortly after, I conducted a number of interviews with adult industry talent and directors. I was to use these interviews to write an essay.

I did write it - two years ago. It's since had a rocky path getting on to any readable platform. Some of the information appears elsewhere (like the upcoming The Feminist Porn Book), though not in this form.

Instead of waiting longer, attempting more drastic edits, and so on, I think it's best to just post it here. I apologize for the wait. But I think it's just as relevant today.
